Matt Williams Profile
Hi, here is a little something about me! I play full time snooker at the Plymouth snooker club. I practice between 11-6pm Mon-Fri. So if you’re in the club, no doubt you’ll see me! (The good looking lad on the table by himself ) I’ve been an English Champion at u19s level and also captained the England squad in 2004. As people tell me I’m arguably the best snooker player in Plymouth. Last season wasn’t my best season yet I managed to qualify to represent my country. I’m going to Goa, India on august 19th 2007 to represent England in the 2007 World U21s Snooker Championships. I got selected to play because I finished 3rd on the National U21s tour! There are 3 players from all different countries to play in this prestigious event. I’m working very hard at my game at the moment so fingers crossed I can go out there with a good performance!! Last Saturday (28th July 2007) I played local professional Andy Hicks in an exhibition match at the club. It was a really good night and what made it better is I come out victorious 4-2 over Andy! Sorry Hicksy. This season I am also playing in the highest amateur ranking competition that is held in Prestatyn, North Wales. It’s based over 8 events with ranking points given in each competition. I lost in event 1 in the last64 stage. Event 2 is held on the 6th-10th August. The top 8 players at the end of the season will be promoted to the World Snooker main tour, which the likes of Ronnie O’Sullivan and Stephen Hendry play on. So, sooner than later TV cameras will hopefully be on me.
